The Right Way
For several months I have been thinking about sharing some of the thoughts that come to me during church and my Bible reading. Now before you tune me out I can also guarantee that there will be lots of other great things of interest for many of you. But as you might guess by the title of my blog I hope to be able to help my grandchildren and others who may need some advice and encouragement. So, while I was reading yesterday I was pretty bored with Leviticus, as anyone who has tried to read through the Bible can attest to, when there in the start of chapter 10 was a tidbit to ponder. Two of Aaron's sons thought they would offer God some honor by burning incense to Him. But as the account reads it was "strange fire" that God had not commanded them. And God consumed them with fire. Wow, I said, they were just trying to please God. Then it hit me, we can't please God with our own way, we need to look to Him for how He wants us to please Him. The previous seemingly "boring" chapters were all about how God wanted His people to worship Him and our own ways are not acceptable. (Lev. 10: 1-5)
